Blogging guidelines

We have a few simple guidelines and suggestions that will help us to keep our blog safe and enjoyable for everyone to read.

Digital Privacy

  • Use your first name only to identify yourself.
  • Parents who leave comments are asked to use their first name only so as not to identify their child, or post comments as “Tony's Mom” or “Amy, Frank’s Aunt”.
  • All posts and comments will be checked before they are published to the blog.
Tone
  • Be positive. polite, friendly, and encouraging.
  • It's okay to add humor, but be careful with sarcasm.
  • If you disagree, don't be rude about it; give constructive (helpful) feedback.
Content
  • Keep your comment on topic and about the original post.
  • Be sure your comment makes sense.
  • Write like you are having a conversation.
  • Say something that you like about a post and maybe even ask that person a question.
Conventions
  • Write in full sentences and use proper punctuation.
  • Uses capitals in the right places. (All capitals is like yelling) 
  • Correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar help make comments clear and understandable.
  • Proofread!  Try to fix your mistakes before you submit comments.
